Start by asking the way your customers do
The fastest way to see your AI visibility is to ask the assistant the questions a real buyer would ask — not questions that already contain your brand name. Brand-name questions are easy to win and tell you nothing.
Try prompts like:
- "What are the best tools for [your category]?"
- "Which [category] tool is best for a [your customer type]?"
- "Compare the top options for [job your product does]."
Run each one and note three things: Are you mentioned? Where in the list? Who's named instead of you?
Do it across more than one engine
Different assistants pull from different sources and give different answers. A brand that's strong in ChatGPT can be invisible in Perplexity or Gemini. To get a true picture, repeat your questions across the major engines — ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, and DeepSeek — and compare.
This is where manual checking gets painful: six engines times several prompts times repeating it weekly to track change. It's the exact busywork an AEO tool automates.
Read the citations, not just the answer
When an assistant recommends competitors, look at why. Most engines cite sources. You'll often find the same handful of pages driving recommendations — a G2 category page, a Reddit thread, a "best of" listicle. If your competitors are cited there and you're not, that's your citation gap: a concrete, ready-made list of places to earn a mention.
Watch for wrong facts
While you're checking, note anything false. AI assistants regularly state outdated prices, dead features, or plain fabrications about brands. A single confident hallucination — "that product was discontinued" — can quietly cost you deals. Catching these is half the value of monitoring.
Turn findings into a plan
Once you've looked, you'll usually land on one of three situations:
- You're not mentioned → focus on earning citations on the sources AI already trusts for your category.
- You're mentioned but ranked low → strengthen the comparative content and reviews that push you up the shortlist.
- AI states something false → correct the record at the source (your site, Wikipedia, high-authority pages).
Automate the loop
Checking once is useful; checking continuously is where the wins compound. LLMVerse runs your buyer questions across six engines on a schedule, scores your visibility, flags competitor share and citation gaps, catches hallucinations, and hands you a prioritized fix list — so "does AI recommend us?" becomes a number you can actually move.
